Featured local artists on show |
The Mersea Gallery is an Aladdin’s Cave tucked away in a corner of West Mersea.
In a previous life the Gallery was the practise studio for the renowned Concert Pianist Semprini who lived on the Island in his houseboat L’Esperance. The Gallery specialises in bespoke framing at very reasonable prices but is also an outlet for local artists to show their paintings and photographs. Local artists include Elizabeth Morris, James Dodd, Audrey Davy, Edwin Meyer and Greg Lane to name a few and there are many more professional and amateur. Artists are always encouraged to bring in paintings and photographs to hang and sell, but mostly local scenes are to be found. Mersea Island is a unique place to live and visit and the gallery’s stock is of local views. Mersea sunsets are renowned and a lot of those can be seen in the photo gallery later. You will also find a great interest in local boats, Thames Barges, Smacks and Winkle Brigs
There are also gifts to be found some made by local people, but also many sourced by Lissa the owner and on West Mersea unique to the gallery.
